Prof. Dr. Helena Brooks is a distinguished biomedical scientist, clinician, and educator recognized for her transformative work in global health systems, medical research, and digital healthcare innovation. With over 22 years of academic and clinical experience, Dr. Brooks has been a driving force in bridging health sciences with data-driven research and telemedicine solutions.
Before joining Woodcroft University, Dr. Brooks served as Chief Academic Officer for Global Health Initiatives at Johns Hopkins Medicine International, where she led research teams across three continents in projects involving epidemiological modeling, infectious disease prevention, and health informatics.
At Woodcroft University, she leads the Faculty of Health, Biomedical & Life Sciences, where she has introduced pioneering programs in Health Informatics, Biomedical Engineering, and Digital Public Health — preparing healthcare professionals to thrive in a data-centered, technology-driven world. Her leadership is guided by one principle: health innovation must be inclusive, equitable, and globally accessible.
Dr. Brooks’s research focuses on disease prevention through digital health analytics, early diagnostics, and cross-sector healthcare collaboration. Her recent studies explore AI-driven disease detection models and hybrid telehealth systems that serve low-connectivity communities in developing nations. She also directs the Woodcroft Global Health Innovation Lab (WGHIL) — a multidisciplinary research hub uniting biomedical scientists, engineers, and data analysts to design scalable solutions for global health equity, telehealth adoption, and pandemic preparedness. Her work has been published in The Lancet Digital Health, Nature Biomedical Engineering, and the Journal of Global Health Research.
